Grandmaster E. R. Spruiell

Sensei E. R. Spruiell, born May 5, 1945, is currently active in providing a service to Judo. In 1995, he established the Norfolk School of Judo & Jujitsu, Norfolk Virginia. His Dojo reflects the philosophy and training of Kodokan Judo and the Sasori Neko Ryu goshin-Jitsu Silat Association.
Sensei Spruiell has been involved in competing, coaching and officiating in Judo and the Martial Arts. He began in 1966 for the All-Marine Corps Regional championships. He was also; Marine Corps champion in 1967 & 1968.
Sensei Spruiell credits his accomplishments to the leadership and instruction he received from the following instructors:

1970 began the study of Sasori Neko Ryu Goshin Ju-Jitsu
1972 Grand Champion in Shufu Regionals
1974 Promoted to Sandan by the Kodokan
Studied under the great teacher, Mr. Takahiko Ishikawa
1983 Held two weight classes a t USJA National and placed at the U. S. Sports Festival
Senior National Masters Championships 3-time Am/Can Masters Champion
June 26, 1999-World Karate Union Hall of Fame Inducted Sensei E.R. Spruiell as Master Instructor of the year Kodokan Judo
